Stress.

It is an overused term.

A catch phrase for a variety of unpleasant, unwanted emotions.  Emotions we think we don’t have time for in our busy lives.

Many people are so stressed out and don’t allow themselves to be in touch with their feelings, yet instead allow themselves to feel stressed.  Stress has even become social accepted as an excuse for all kinds of behavior.  Drinking, self-medicating with other over the counter or even illegal substances, over-eating, rude or thoughtless treatment of others.  Perhaps like me, you’ve heard someone remark, “Well, you can’t blame him for acting that way, he’s stressed.” Or the dreaded, “Bless her heart, she’s so stressed.  What do you expect?”

But what is this thing we call stress? It may run rampant in your life, but do know what it really is?  You know you feel stressed when you have to make an important meeting, but the traffic situation appears to be working against you.  You’re stressed over a pending promotion. Your child’s SAT’s are coming up and you’re stressing over him passing, and worse, how you’ll pay for college.

The bottom line is that stress, at its root, is not an emotion.  It’s an uncomfortable feeling of not being able to get things done, or not getting them done the way you want them and that negatively impacting your life.  But go deeper and feel the emotion under the stress, and you may find fear, irritation, frustration, sadness, guilt or perhaps even outright rage or terror.  The stress is caused by keeping those emotions at bay, by you avoiding your feelings. It’s understandable.  Who wants to feel like all hell will break loose and your life will be ruined if things don’t go your way?

So enter Interpersonal Hypnotherapy and a way to uncover what you are actually feeling and the things that you  may be concluding about a situation or a relationship.  It is amazing how a session can uncover the truth and you may be completely baffled to discover your emotions and the things that you may have attached to a situation.   During the session not only are your emotions and beliefs uncovered, but the negative ones are cleared.  They are transformed, and just like shining light into the dark closet of a five year old convinced that monsters live in there, the truth is revealed and your stress removed.

Once the

negative emotions or beliefs are cleared or transformed, there is no need to feel stress because you are no longer pushing away those unwanted feelings.  Interpersonal hypnotherapy can give you what you need to reduce stress and manage the events of your life with a calm confidence that can carry you through.
