The training is clear, concise, and in its weekend format, available to those who work during the week. I wholeheartedly recommend the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy (FIH) as both a excellent school and clinic. The training is comprehensive, well-organized, and beautifully presented and graduates have been educated to be sensitive, effective hypnotherapists who treat the whole person, not just the symptoms. It was almost a year before the chronic pain in my left thigh drove me to my first experience of hypnotherapy. After having this pain for several months, I noticed a bizarre pattern; every time I drank coffee my thigh would inflame. Unwilling to give up my all-time favorite drink, I switched to organic coffee and cut back to one cup a day. This helped for a short while, but relentlessly, the pain returned. After eight months of agony, I began to limp.
Then, while visiting the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy, Executive Director Matthew Brownstein explained to me the benefits of hypnotherapy. When I told him about my chronic pain, he offered to demonstrate the profound effect of this tool. To my amazement, within ten minutes, he healed the pain completely by transforming the underlying beliefs. The pain never returned and I still drink my coffee. I had so many funny ideas about hypnosis because of what I've seen on TV. What I experienced that day could not have been more different than the media portrayed of hypnosis.
I have since attended the Florida Institute of Hypnotherapy and am continually inspired by the profound impact this healing tool has on the people who use it. The most rewarding thing this career is seeing my clients achieve their goals so quickly. I have helped people with insomnia, chronic pain, depressed and anxious feelings, weight loss, smoking, grief, low self-esteem, and other life draining issues. I had the fortune of meeting Matthew during my introduction to his Anahat meditation practice. He introduced me to his profession of hypnotherapy which seemed to be a powerful method to heal clients with mental and physical problems originating from false belief systems often acquired during childhood. As a student of the introductory month of his first hypnotherapy class, I became convinced that hypnotherapy is an effective and rapid method to identify and heal the core causes of suffering and that it was a post-retirement calling for me to develop complete the training and enter this profession.
